'Bangsa Johor' satukan semua kaum, kata Umno Johor

Johor Umno Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros said embracing the “Bangsa Johor” identity can provide common ground for the state’s diverse communities and reinforce unity across racial lines. Noor Azleen said the concept encompassed all communities in Johor and remained central to fostering unity among the Malays, Chinese, Indians and other ethnic groups.

“When we talk about Bangsa Johor, it represents the Malays, Chinese, Indians and others. We identify ourselves as Bangsa Johor, and that identity unites us as one people despite our different races and backgrounds,” he told FMT. He was asked how Barisan Nasional intended to attract Chinese and Indian voters in the state election on July 11.

Kerajaan Johor komited kepada kebajikan semua komuniti

He said the Johor government had reinforced the Bangsa Johor identity by remaining committed to the welfare of every community and never sidelining the interests, needs, or aspirations of any ethnic group. “Bangsa Johor is more than a unifying concept. We are able to live as a multiracial society because the people know the state government genuinely cares about the needs of every community,” he said.

BN formed the Johor government after winning 40 of the 56 seats in the 2022 state election. Pakatan Harapan won 12 seats, while Perikatan Nasional secured three, and Muda one.

Institusi diraja Johor memainkan peranan penting

Noor Azleen said the Johor royal institution also played an important role through foundations dedicated to supporting different communities. He cited Yayasan Sultanah Fatimah, which assists the Chinese community through welfare, healthcare, and small business support, and Yayasan Sultanah Rogayah, which focuses on the Indian community’s welfare, education, and places of worship.

He also pointed to Johor’s annual Chingay celebration as an example of the state’s multicultural identity. “Even Malays look forward to celebrating the Chingay festival because it shows that Bangsa Johor is built on unity and mutual respect, with people celebrating one another’s festivals together.”

Bangsa Johor identiti kebanggaan semua kaum

“We are proud to be known as Bangsa Johor, regardless of race, while ensuring the needs of every community continue to be met through these foundations,” he said.
